Arizona Iced

A hybrid synth, drum sampler and effects plugin for VST3, AU and standalone — and an AI agent can play every knob on it.

In development. Builds for Windows, macOS and Linux are not out yet.

Listen

Clips from Fold, a track whose lead and riff are Arizona patches, rendered through the real plugin. Loudness-matched.

Fold — the climax The full mix, 18 seconds from the loudest part of the track.
Fold Lead One patch: five oscillators through Ladder II, Comb, band-pass and high-pass filters, per-phrase automation.
Fold Riff The riff patch from the same track.

The instrument

The Arizona Iced editor with the Supersaw Lead preset: two saw oscillators into a mixer, an LP 24 dB filter, a VCA and the output, with a keyboard and scale lock below.
The patch canvas, Supersaw Lead loaded. Rendered from the plugin itself.

The engine

Oscillators

Up to 16 oscillator slots on a modular canvas. Wavetables (saw, square, sine, PWM and more), FM between oscillators, a sub, noise, and key zones so one patch can be a bass below C3 and a pad above it.

Supersaw unison

Up to 16 voices per oscillator. A JP-8000-style detune curve, centre-versus-side mix, linear, alternate or centre-out spread, per-voice drift, and a mono-bass crossover so the low end stays centred.

Filters

State-variable LP/BP/HP/notch, the classic Ladder, and Ladder II: saturating at every stage, run at 2x (4x from C5 up). Plus a tuned Comb and a Formant filter. Cutoff, resonance and drive are smoothed per sample, so a sweep never steps.

Modulation

A mod matrix with tempo-synced LFOs, MSEGs, a step sequencer, a mod envelope on each filter and on FM depth, four macros, velocity to filter envelope, and glide.

Effects

Tape and diode drive with Off/2x/4x oversampling, chorus, phaser, flanger, a three-tap ensemble, OTT-style three-band dynamics, convolution reverb, and a master bus of glue compressor, MIDI-keyed sidechain duck and true-peak limiter.

Drums and samples

A 32-pad drum sampler and a melodic instrument sampler with SFZ import, legato, CC1/CC11 dynamics, sustain pedal and automatic sustain loops.

Measured, not claimed: a driven C6 saw through Ladder II folds back −65 dB of inharmonic energy, against −31 dB through the old Ladder. At full resonance it self-oscillates within 0.2 cents of the cutoff.

Presets

44 factory presets, from synth leads and basses to synthesised orchestral instruments. The newest:

  • Fat Bass Stack Mono sub, supersaw through a driven Ladder II, and a quiet top layer.
  • Reese Two saw stacks beating slowly into a dark, driven Ladder II.
  • Supersaw Lead The JP-8000 recipe: seven voices on the detune curve.
  • Acid Ladder One saw into a screaming Ladder II.
  • Hoover-lite The rave stab: a wide detuned saw stack over a saw an octave down.
  • Fold Lead · Fold Riff Patches built for the track Fold. Heard above.
